FAQ

  • Where do we begin?

We'll start with a free 15-minute consultation phone call. I’ll ask you to share just briefly what brings you to therapy. Then I will tell you a bit about my way of working and answer any questions you may have based on what I have shared, or maybe just about the process of therapy and what to expect in general.

After that, if you feel like we are a good fit, I will share the information to register with me as a client and how to book your first virtual session online.

  • Are your services covered by insurance?

Many insurance plans cover Registered Psychotherapist (RP) services, but coverage can vary by individual plan. It’s best to check with your provider to confirm your specific plan's coverage for Psychotherapy.

RP services in Ontario are also tax deductible if you are eligible for the medical expense tax credit.

  • What are your fees?

Sessions are $160/50 minutes or $220/80 minutes and are usually scheduled on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, though we can discuss your goals and a suitable frequency.

Sliding scale spots are available upon request, though are currently full. If you are in need of low cost perinatal therapy, I am happy to provide referrals.

  • What can I expect in a first session?

In our first session, I will go over the consent forms you signed and give you a sense of what working together might look like. There will be time and space to ask any questions you might have.

Then it’s my job to be curious! Of course we will never get to everything in just one session, though to start I will ask you about what brought you to therapy, of course, and also questions about your life in general and presently.

Before we finish our first session, we’ll co-create some goals for our time working together. If it is helpful, I can offer you some tools or strategies to use in-between sessions.

  • How often should I come to therapy?

This depends on lots of factors! To start, I often recommend weekly or bi-weekly sessions for about 6–10 weeks. This helps us build a strong foundation and momentum in our work together while giving space for changes to begin integrating. From there, we can adjust the frequency to what feels most supportive for you , whether that’s weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or ad hoc.

I recognize that certain life stages, circumstances, finances, and goals all shape how often therapy fits into your life, and I’ll gladly accommodate your preferred frequency from the start.

Therapy continues only as long as it feels helpful to you. We’ll check in regularly about how things are going, and you’re free to pause or end at any time. If I ever need to end our work together, I’ll provide referrals or help connect you with another therapist or service.ere

  • What is your cancellation policy?

I kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. This allows me to offer the spot to someone on my waitlist and helps me maintain a sustainable practice. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed entirely, will be charged the full session fee. That said, I understand that unexpected things come up—especially in seasons of parenting and caregiving. I offer a one-time grace for a late cancellation, and will always take genuine emergencies into account with care and understanding.
